The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a stock market trading index. It shows how 30 large, publically traded companies in the US have traded in the stock market during a standard trading session.

The thirty companies making up the Dow Jones Industrial Average are:

3M, Alcoa, American Express, AT&T, Bank of America, Boeing, Caterpillar, Chevron Corp., Cisco Systems, Coca-Cola, DuPont, ExxonMobil, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, The Home Depot, Intel, IBM, Johnson and Johnson, JP Morgan Chase, Kraft Foods, McDonald’s, Merck, Microsoft, Pfizer, Proctor and Gamble, Travelers, United Technologies Corp., Verizon Communications, Wal-Mart, and Walt Disney.
